FIR registered after duo attacked, robbed during trek in Mulund

The accused fled from the spot after snatching the duo's bags and mobile phones.

Two Mulund based youngsters who had gone for a trek in the area on December 31 evening were attacked and robbed by three unidentified persons on Monday. The Mulund police have registered an FIR in the matter and are on the lookout for the three accused persons.

As per the FIR, Shlok D (24) and his friend Hiral (29) decided to go for a trek on a hillock near Vasant Garden in Mulund West to celebrate the last day of the year.

The duo had gone on the same trek several times in the past and hence knew the route well. They went up at 5:15pm carrying two bags and came across three unidentified persons sitting at a spot as they were coming down around 6:15pm.

One of these three persons asked Shlok for the time. When Shlok told him it was 6.45pm, the person came nearer on the pretext that he could not hear Shlok. As soon as he got near them, the person hit Shlok on the head with a stone and began to pull the latter’s bag. Shlok started bleeding from his head and he fell on the ground.

After Shlok fell, another of the three unidentified persons started pulling at his mobile phone. When Hiral went to help him, someone pushed her as well and she fell with her face hitting the ground. She sustained injuries to her face.

One of the accused then pulled at her bag and mobile phone as well. The accused then fled from the spot after snatching the bags and mobile phones. Valuables including a GoPro camera worth Rs 55,500 was lost by the victims.

After the incident, the duo managed to return to the base of the hill and took help from others who took them to a local hospital. An officer said Shlok received nearly 15 stitches for the injuries he sustained.

The hospital authorities then alerted the police, following which officers from the Mulund police station recorded the girl’s statement and registered an FIR in the matter. An officer said that an offence has been registered and they are on the lookout for the accused persons.
