Out of the 93 platforms, work has been completed in only 46 platforms and the remaining 47 will get done by the end of March 2016.Even as the Bombay High Court had directed the Central (CR) and Western Railway (WR) to complete work of raising platforms’ height up to 920 mm at designated railway stations by March 2015, local train commuters will have to wait till 2016 before the work gets completed.
According to figures given by the WR, of the 93 platforms, work has been completed in only 46 platforms and the remaining 47 will get done by the end of March 2016. Further, of the 273 platforms on CR, the height has been increased at 190 platforms and the remaining 83 is expected to be completed by next year.

The Bombay High Court had taken cognisance of the issue after college student Monica More lost her arms after falling between the gap in the platform at Ghatkopar station.
“Platforms are occupied with commuters and hence, it is difficult to carry out the work during the day. The work of filling the gap between platforms and footboard are done at night,” said G C Agrawal, WR general manager.
Sunil Kumar Sood, general manager of CR, said, “Work is in progress. We are likely to complete work by the end of next year.”
