(Express Photo)Mumbai News Highlights: Several areas in Central Mumbai and the easters suburbs of the city will face a water supply cut on Sunday owing to a damaged pipeline, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The affected areas include Wadala, Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Antop Hill, Chembur, Govandi and Mankhurd — spread across the municipal wards of F/south, F/North, L, N, M/East and M/West. The BMC has urged citizens to use water cautiously.
Meanwhile, contractors in Maharashtra are set to drag the state government to the Bombay High Court over the issue of “non-payment of bills worth Rs 89,000 crore for infrastructure works in the state”. Miling Bhosle, state president of the contractors’ association, said, “At a time when our pending payout from the government is around Rs 89,000 crore, the state government is merely releasing Rs 4,000 crore. The Maharashtra State Contractors Association and the State Engineers Association held a state-level meeting in Thane and took a decision to drag the government to court.”
