Two months after Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray released his photography book Maharashtra Desha with a cover photo of the Lonar lake, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has brought out a mock book Mumbai Desha, highlighting the poor infrastructure during monsoon topped with a pothole shot.
The MNS has organised a photo exhibition, picking holes in the Sena-ruled BMCs claims of no flooding and potholes this monsoon. Importantly, the two-day exhibition, which started on Wednesday,is in Dadar, once considered a Sena stronghold, and literally in the back alley of Sena headquarters Sena Bhavan. The administration and the ruling party had been claiming there are no potholes or flooding. These photos prove them wrong, said MNS MLA Nitin Sardesai.
Uddhav had,in May,released his photography book that comprised aerial shots of forts, caves and other natural resources of the state. The MNS exhibition also has top shots of potholes. Asked about the similarities,Sardesai said,Any resemblance is coincidental. We are merely highlighting how the BMC has failed to address the citys problems.
Mayor Shraddha Jadhav said the MNS could keep making fun of Sena and administration. This time, the flooding is indeed under control, with areas being freed of waterlogging in less than two hours. The potholes are not peculiar to Mumbai.
Uddhav said he was not for politicising the situation. On the MNS exhibition,he said,This time, they came out with Mumbai Desha. Next time, they should come out with Shiv Sena Dvesha.
The book and exhibition comprise 50 photos, shot across the city. Party workers claimed they had been taken in the past week. Ironically, the photographer,Sachin Torankar,is down with malaria.
The MNS plans to take the exhibition to other parts of the city and add more pictures to the collection.
