)THE ANTI NARCOTICS Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai crime branch said it busted an interstate gang and seized 2.6 kg of charas from Jammu and Kashmir worth around Rs 1.04 crore. In another operation, ANC seized 120 grams of MD (Mephedrone) along with Rs 22 lakh cash and one bike.
In all, drugs worth Rs 1.51 crore were seized and six alleged drug peddlers’ including one Kashmiri person in special operations.

While interrogating the first accused, the ANC got information about his accomplice in Byculla east area. The duo were identified as Sartaj and Kanojia, who run a tailoring shop in Mumbai.
Later the police traced a third person, Haji Abdul Rehman, resident of Anantnag district of Jammu & Kashmir from Byculla east area, from whom they recovered 800 grams of charas.
An officer said that during questioning it came to light that the accused procured the charas from Jammu & Kashmir. As per police, the modus operandi was that Haji Abdul Rehman, who brought walnuts from Jammu & Kashmir, hid the charas in walnut bags and sold it in Mumbai.
In the second operation conducted by ANC Azad Maidan Unit in Mahim, officials found a suspicious person in possession of MD. While interrogating him he said he took the MD from South Mumbai. The police then traced the second accused who, during interrogation, said he took the MD from a third accused person. This person was tracked down and Rs 22 lakh was recovered from his house, as per police sources.
