The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a medical sailor of the Indian Navy Hospital station in Colaba for allegedly seeking and accepting bribes. The accused was demanding money to give a positive medical report to the aspirants who have cleared their written and physical test in an ongoing recruitment in INHS Ashwini Hospital, sources said. According to CBI officials, a case was registered against the sailor, identified as Sanju Aralikatti, and other unidentified public servants on November 18. "It was alleged that the accused was demanding undue advantage for providing a positive medical report in the medical examination of the candidates. The medical examination of defence candidates/aspirants who have passed written and physical tests was going on in INHS Ashwini Hospital," a CBI officer said. The officials also said that the accused demanded undue advantage of Rs 30,000 and directed the complainant to transfer the bribe through PhonePe bearing his phone number. "As per the directions of accused Sanju Aralikatti, the complainant has made part payment of Rs 5,000 from his account in Bank of Baroda," reads the FIR. Searches were conducted on the premises of the accused which led to seizure of several incriminating documents related to Medical Examination of Defence/Army aspirants, CBI officials said. The accused was produced before a court and remanded in police custody till November 22.
