The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) has recorded its highest-ever passenger traffic in December,2009. The airport handled 2.53 million passengers in December 2009 surpassing its previous record of handling 2.38 million passengers in January 2008. This was the highest monthly passenger traffic handled by any airport in India, said a spokesperson from the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL). The improvement in passenger figures was first noticed in April 2008 when the airport witnessed rising figures after a gap of nearly seven months. It was only in September 2009 that the airports passenger figures rose marginally.
