Senior inspector S Randive of RAK Marg police station said they have taken the accused for medical tests to find out if he was under the influence of alcohol. An officer said the boy’s father Laxman Ramesh is a mandap decorator.

Randive said, “Prima facie, the driver does not appear to be under the influence of alcohol.”

The police checked whether the driver has a valid driving license and suspect that it was while taking a U-turn or reversing the car that the boy came under the four-wheeler.
