The proposed bridge over Dharamtar creek will connect Revas and Karanja. (Source: Google Maps)The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has floated a tender for the construction of a four-lane bridge across Dharamtar Creek with approach roads connecting Revas to Karanja on Revas-Reddi Coastal Highway MSH-04 in Raigad district.
The project which is expected to cost Rs 2070 cr entails building a 2.04 km long bridge over the creek and two approach roads which will be 5.13 km long and 3.08 km long respectively.
The bridge will help in cutting down the driving distance between Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and Alibaug from approximately 55 km to 30 km.
MSRDC earlier this year had floated a tender for the construction of the said bridge. While the tendering process was completed the winning bidder was not awarded the Letter of Intent for the project.
“The previous tender entailed only construction of the 2 km long bridge. In the present tender we have amalgamated the work of the bridge and the approach roads in a single tender and reissued it,” a MSRDC official said.
