The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is looking for a consultant which will obtain forest clearance for its proposed Multi Modal Corridor project from Navghar to Chirner. It has floated a request for proposal (RFP) for the same on Wednesday. The proposed Multi Modal Corridor from Navghar to Chirner is an 80-km long 8-12 lane access-controlled expressway with a route alignment within Mumbai Metropolitan Region being constructed by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). This expressway will connect three districts of Raigad, Thane, and Palghar. The MMC connects major existing traffic generators like JNPT, NH4, NH17, Mumbai-Pune Expressway and upcoming ones like Rewas port, Navi Mumbai airport, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) etc. The selected agency will be responsible to complete the task within 240 days from the issue of the date of work order, the MSRDC said. The interested bidders are required to submit bids before January 3. The technical bids shall be opened on January 4 at 3 pm, the official said. Thereafter, evaluation will be done if a required number of bids are received for the said work, said the official. The corridor will traverse through Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts, requiring approximately 1,347.22 hectares of land mainly privately-owned. With soaring land values in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the projected cost solely for land compensation stands at about Rs 21,000 crore, said the official.
