MNS leaders from Thane have shot off a letter to the police, seeking action against a distorted youtube clip depicting an actor playing Chathrapathi Shivaji and using foul language. They have threatened an agitation if the police fail to take action against those who uploaded the video.
College students had informed the party unit about the video, which has been distorted allegedly to mouth foul language against the Maharashtrian community. The six-minute clip shows a dialogue from film Me Shivaji Raje Bhosale Boltoy between Shivaji and a Marathi person, portrayed by actor Sachin Khedekar.
MNS president Raj Thackeray had released the music of the 2009 movie. Though the original dialogue propels an anguished Khedekar to take charge of his life, the distorted youtube image uses foul language against Marathi people. The complaint has been filed with Thane rural and Thane police commissioner.
We received complaints and the clipping from college students from Palghar on Saturday. We immediately approached the police and asked them to take action. The video is so bad that we cannot even watch it; there is use of foul language and abuse. It is creating tension; we want it to be removed, MNS Thane unit secretary Shirish Sawant said.
He said the police had promised immediate action, adding that the party would take stock of the situation on Tuesday.
