MNS,Congress push for SRK entry in Wankhede

Parties say ban imposed on actor after a brawl should be lifted.

In an about turn from his earlier position,MNS president Raj Thackeray said Tuesday the five-year ban on Shah Rukh Khan from entering Wankede Stadium should be lifted. The ban was imposed by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) after the actor fought with a security guard last year.

MNS said the ban was childish as the actor was not a terrorist to be kept out of the stadium.

“Whatever happened was wrong. But the chapter is closed now. He should be allowed inside Wankhede Stadium. He is not a terrorist,” Thackeray said.

MNS had earlier criticised Shah Rukh and even planned to felicitate Vikas Dalvi, the guard with whom the actor fought.

Meanwhile,Congress too has come out in support of Shah Rukh and appealed to MCA to reconsider the ban on the actor.

In an email to MCA president Ravi Savant Tuesday,MPCC spokesman Sachin Sawant said Shah Rukh Khan publicly apologised for his misconduct at the stadium after a match last IPL season.

“After the apology,we feel it would be in the interest of sports if your esteemed organisation shows sportsman spirit and allows entry to Khan. It is not the question of Shah Rukh Khan as an actor, but of any citizen – a ban is not a democratic punishment, especially when the person has apologised,” he said.
