Lottery for 4k houses under MHADA Mumbai Board; apply from today

According to the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority, interested individuals can apply for the houses from 3 pm on May 22 and the lottery draw will be held on July 18 in Bandra.

The Mumbai board of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), which provides affordable housing, has announced a lottery for a total of 4,083 houses. As many as 2,790 of the houses are for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 1,034 are for those in the Lower Income Group, while 139 are for Middle Income Group and 120 for Higher Income Group buyers.

According to MHADA, interested individuals can apply for the same from 3 pm on May 22 and the lottery draw will be held on July 18 at Rangsharda Auditorium, Bandra. Details regarding the lottery are available on the official websites housing.mhada.gov.in and mhada.gov.in. Since the lottery system has been made digital, the entire process – including registration, document submission, payment of minimum deposit and lottery draw eliminating human intervention – will be held online.

Interestingly, the MHADA Mumbai board’s call for the lottery of houses comes after a few years’ gap this time. The houses are priced in the range of Rs 34 lakh to Rs 7 crore.

Aspirants can also apply via the mobile application ‘MHADA HOUSING LOTTERY SYSTEM’. Applicants for this round of lottery draw should complete the registration process by 6 pm on June 26. Further, those registered can carry out online payment of deposit money for participation in the lottery till June 27.

By 3pm on July 4, the MHADA Mumbai Board will issue the list of participants. Suggestions and objections can be sent till July 7 and the final list will be issued on July 12.

In the 4,083 houses called for lottery this time, MHADA has also included houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme. The cost of the houses have been fixed after deducting a subsidy of Rs 2.5 lakh. Houses under various other redevelopment schemes of MHADA are also part of the lottery.

The housing authority has clarified that no broker or agent will be involved in the lottery draw process and has asked homebuyers to be vigilant against anyone claiming to provide such houses in lieu of money. A helpline (022 – 69468100) has also been dedicated to guide homebuyers through the application process.

The houses will be available in Pahadi-Goregaon West, Antop Hill, Kannamwar Nagar, Lokmanya Nagar-Dadar, Antop Hill-Wadala, Siddharth Nagar-Goregaon West, D N Nagar-Andheri West, Pant Nagar-Ghatkopar, Charkop-Kandivali West, Mahavir Nagar-Kandivali West, Old Magathane-Borivali East, Gavanpada-Mulund East, PMGP Mankhurd, Malvani-Malad West, Unnatnagar-Goregaon West, Juhu, Andheri West, Andheri East, Shahkar Nagar-Chembur, Byculla, Tilak Nagar-Chembur, Chandivali-Powai, Gaikwad Nagar-Malad, Pratiksha Nagar-Sion, Wadala West, Tardeo, Lower Parel, Shimpoli-Kandivali West and Tunga-Powai.
