After coming to power at the end of 2019, the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government had banned construction work for the Arey carshed. However, the BJP-Shiv Sena government that came to power in July last year, lifted the construction ban and resumed work.

Fadnavis told the council on Friday, “I am happy to announce that after almost three years when work on the carshed was halted for reasons I do not want to revisit, almost 54 percent work on the cashed has been completed in the past six months. The work will be completed by the end of the year. The first phase of the Bandra-Colaba-Seepz metro, between Bandra and Seepz, can begin by end of this year or early next year.”
