Man raped teenage daughter for a year, impregnated her, booked

“The accused father has been raping the minor since August 2023. He had threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it. The girl was scared and kept mum. In the month of June, the father discovered that the girl became pregnant. Hence, he gave her some pills, following which the girl’s pregnancy got aborted. The girl didn’t know that the pills were for abortion,” said a police source.

After the abortion and due to the persistent assaults, she slipped into depression. Her mother observed that her daughter has been behaving differently lately and looks depressed, said a police officer.

On Wednesday evening, she took her in confidence and asked her what had happened. The girl then broke down and narrated her ordeal of how her father has been sexually abusing her for the past year, the officer added.

The mother, shocked, immediately approached the police and filed a complaint.

After the girl’s medical examination at a hospital, they lodged a case in the matter. The accused has managed to escape the region, and the police are looking for him.

The accused has been booked under sections 64 (rape), 64(2)(F) (being a relative, guardian or teacher of, or a person in a position of trust or authority towards the woman, commits rape on such woman), 64(2)(M) (commits rape repeatedly on the same woman), 65(1)(committing rape on a woman under sixteen years of age), 89(causing miscarriage without woman’s consent), 115(2) (causing hurt), 351(3)(death threat) of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
