Another fatal accident by a speedy BMW in Worli; man dies after battling for life for seven days
On July 9, Kaveri Nakhwa, 45, died after she was dragged for nearly two kilometres by a BMW car driven by Mihir Shah, the son of Shinde Sena leader Rajesh Shah, allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

After battling for life for seven days, a 28-year-old man, who got severely injured after his two-wheeler was rammed by a speedy BMW in the Worli Sea area on July 20, succumbed to injuries on Saturday. The police have booked the driver of the vehicle, who was taking his employer to a five-star hotel in Worli for a function.
This is the second instance of a fatal accident by a speeding car in Worli this month. On July 9, fisherwoman Kaveri Nakhwa, 45, died after she was dragged for nearly 2 kilometres in Worli, after she got tangled in the BMW car, bring driven by Mihir Shah (allegedly under the influence of alcohol), son of Shinde Sena leader Rajesh Shah. The driver later had interchanged the seats with his driver.
The deceased person in the latest accident has been identified as Vinod Lad, who worked as a supervisor for a Thane-based transport company. Lad died on Saturday at the BYL Nair hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment for the past seven days. He also underwent a crucial surgery.
According to Worli police sources, on July 20, when Lad, who resides on his cousin’s Worli Hill Road, was returning home from work, his two-wheeler was dashed from behind by a speedy BMW car on the Abdul Gaffar Khan road in the Worli Sea Face area.
Lad sustained serious head injuries. People from other vehicles got out and rushed the injured lady to the Nair hospital. He had been in a coma since he was brought to the hospital and was undergoing treatment in the ICU, when he died at the hospital on Saturday, said a Lad’s relative.
The police have booked the accused driver of the BMW car, Kiran Indulkar. He was taking his Thane-based employer to a family function in a four-season hospital in Worli. The police filed an FIR on the complaint of Lad’s cousin Kishore Lad, who is posted at the DN Nagar police station.
Zonal DCP Krishnakant Upadhyay confirmed the development and said that on Saturday the injured person died. “The accused driver had not escaped from the incident please. He along with others rushed the injured to the hospital in his car. The accused person was earlier charged under relevant sections for causing grievous hurt by negligent driving. Now that the injured person has passed away, we would press the section of causing death by negligent driving,” Upadhyay said.
Was to get married in December
Lad, who lost his parents in his childhood, was raised by his uncle. A graduate, Lad, was working with the Thane company. His marriage was scheduled to be held in December of this year, and he was preparing for his marriage. Four days before the accident, it was his birthday, and his friends had gifted him a wrist watch. He told them that he would wear it on Sunday when he would go to meet his fiance. But, before that, he met with a relative.
