Man held for violating externment order

A history sheeter with several cases of oil theft against him was arrested Friday for allegedly violating his externment order.

A history sheeter with several cases of oil theft against him was arrested Friday for allegedly violating his externment order.

Police said Jalaluddin Khan (35) was involved in a racket wherein oil from trucks carrying petroleum to petrochemical companies was pilfered in connivance with drivers.

Khan was also allegedly involved in stealing oil by breaking open supply lines.

After several arrests,Khan was externed for a year from Mumbai,Navi Mumbai,Thane and Raigad in January.

“On Friday,we received a tip-off that Khan was at his home in Mumbai. We learnt that he was to meet a friend in Deonar. We laid a trap and arrested him,” said inspector Pandit Thakre.

Khan has been remanded in judicial custody till July 25.
