Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. PTIA magistrate court in Mumbai on Thursday granted bail to a man booked for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The Bandra court granted bail to Kinchak Navale, who was arrested by the Santacruz police for allegedly making a speech and circulating a video in which he made threats and objectionable remarks against Fadnavis. Navale was granted bail on conditions, including paying a bond of Rs 15,000.
Navale, a resident of Satara, was produced before the court on March 2. The court then granted his custody to the police until Thursday, stating that grounds were made out for his custodial interrogation.
On Thursday, the court sent him to judicial custody, following which Navale’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, filed for bail. It was submitted that their continued custody was not necessary. The court granted him bail. The detailed order was yet to be made available.
Earlier, while opposing the police plea for his custody, lawyer Maneshinde had said that the statements alleged were political in nature and the offence under Section 153(A) of the Indian Police Code, invoked against Navale for allegedly causing enmity among groups, was not made out.
