Maldivian seabird Lesser Noddy dies in Navi Mumbai
The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) has decided to take possession of the the carcass of the bird from the forest department for research.

A rare Maldivian seabird, Lesser Noddy, which was spotted immobile in poor health at a residential complex in Navi Mumbai on Sunday died later at the WWA Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Manpada, Thane.
The bird, scientifically known as ‘Anous tenuirostris’, characterised by its long beak, was found struggling by resident Deepak Rampal at the Seawoods NRI complex. Rampal then informed the Wildlife Welfare Association (WWA).

NatConnect Foundation director B N Kumar expressed concern over the recent deaths of several birds, including flamingos, in Navi Mumbai, and emphasised the urgency of commissioning the veterinary hospital in the area. The hospital building at Juinagar, constructed for Rs 4 crore, has been ready for over three years but remains non-operational.
