A 24-year-old woman suffering from post-delivery complications died of alleged medical negligence at the Civil Hospital, police said on Wednesday.
Usha Pawar, from Rohini of Kawad gram panchayat, was admitted to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Bhiwandi, near Thane, on Monday where she delivered a child through normal procedure yesterday at around 1.45 PM, Bhiwandi taluka police station constable P K Adari said.

However, after the delivery she developed complications and was then transferred to Thane Civil Hospital where the doctors, who attended her at around 4.45 PM, declared she was brought dead, Adari said.
Angry over the woman not being attended in time for her post-delivery bleeding which resulted in her death, a group of villagers and MNS activists today staged a protest in the hospital premises here and refused to take the body while demanding action against the errant doctors and other staff.
Meanwhile, local MNS leader Suryakant Kadam alleged that despite the pleadings of the woman’s husband, Dharmendra Vishnu Pawar, the medical staff did not attend on her.
The woman kept lying in an ambulance in the Civil Hospital premises for about two hours which worsened her condition leading to her death, he further alleged.
Kadam also accused the hospital of hastily conducting the deceased’s postmortem in the wee hours today, at around 2 AM, as against the normal practice of autopsy after sunrise.
A health department official, on condition of anonymity, said they were in the process of recording statement of the woman’s husband regarding the matter and a report would be submitted to the government after the thorough probe.
Based on a communication from the Thane Civil hospital, the Bhiwandi taluka police have registered an accidental death report (ADR), Adari said, adding police were investigating the matter.
