Maharashtra MLC Polls Live Updates: Nine Mahayuti candidates registered wins in the Maharashtra MLC elections. Congress's Pradnya Satav from Maha Vikas Aghadi also won. All 274 MLAs voted on Friday in the biennial elections to 11 seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. There were 12 candidates in the fray for the 11 seats in the upper house of the state legislature where the 274 current members of the legislative assembly form the electoral college. Meanwhile, jailed BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad arrived at Vidhan Bhavan to cast his vote after court granted him permission. However, the Opposition parties - Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) raised objection against Gaikwad being granted permission to vote. Acting on Congress party's letter, election officer has sought response from Chief Election Officer of Maharashtra regarding the same and Gaikwad has been asked to not to vote as the reply is awaited. The elections to the vacant seats is likely to spring surprise amid fears of cross-voting and with both Maha Vikas Agadi and Mahayuti leaders meeting their MLAs yesterday. The Congress on Friday denied speculation that nine of its MLAs would cross-vote in favour of the BJP-led Mahayuti candidates. “The ruling parties are spreading rumours. There is no truth in it. Not a single MLA from the Congress will indulge in cross-voting,” Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar, state Opposition leader said.
