Maharashtra Assembly session to break for 2 days, Oppn cites PM’s Pune visit on Aug 1
With this, the House will, in effect, remain closed for four days starting July 29 (Saturday).

The proceedings of the Maharashtra Assembly’s monsoon session will not be convened for two days on July 31 and August 1, with the Opposition alleging that the decision has been taken in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Pune on August 1.
With this, the House will, in effect, remain closed for four days starting July 29 (Saturday).
No specific reason has been given for this break, state Congress president Nana Patole said.
“During the Business Advisory Committee meeting, it was decided that the Assembly would not be convened on Monday and Tuesday. No specific reason was given for this break. The Congress party has repeatedly demanded to have discussions on various questions of the people in the Assembly as per the schedule of the monsoon session. The state is facing a severe natural crisis… there are questions from farmers and the general public. But this government is indifferent to the issues of the people and is more concerned about their master coming from Delhi,” Patole said.
The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the state legislature on Thursday met and announced that it will break for four days and convene again on August 2.
“The BAC has decided to discontinue the functioning of the session till August 4. The session will not function on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I place this resolution for approval in front of the House,” said Parliamentary Affairs minister Chandrakant Patil on Thursday. The Assembly passed the resolution with a majority on Thursday.
The PM will be in Pune on August 1 where he will receive the “Lokmanya Tilak National Award”. A number of projects are also expected to be inaugurated by him. The entire state cabinet and ruling party MLAs are expected to be in Pune during the PM’s visit.
