The session will not function on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. (Express photo/File) Amid speculations that the ongoing monsoon session of the state legislature will be curtailed this week, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Assembly on Thursday decided to continue the session till August 4.
“The BAC has decided to continue the functioning of the session till August 4. The session will not function on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I place this resolution for approval in front of the house,” said Parliamentary Affairs minister Chandrakant Patil. The Assembly passed the resolution.
Amid heavy rain in different parts of the state, it was rumoured that the state government might curtail the session.

Earlier in the day, opposition Congress had opposed any move to curtail the session. “Some parts of the state including Mumbai are receiving heavy rains but half of the state still has not received enough rains. It is necessary to discuss many questions of the people in the house,” said state Congress chief and MLA Nana Patole.
Patole claimed that the government was running away from discussions under the pretext of the rain. “This is the second week of the session and it is not right to end it abruptly. Issues of farmers, labourers, youth, women and unemployed youth should be discussed,” said Patole.
