Mahadev app betting case: Sahil Khan, 3 others fail to appear before police

THE FOUR persons including actor Sahil Khan summoned by the Mumbai crime branch in connection with the FIR registered by it in the Mahadev app betting case did not appear before the police on Friday.

An officer said that they will issue summons to them again. “If they don’t join further probe, necessary legal action will be taken against them,” a senior officer said.

The police had earlier issued summons to accused Amit Sharma on Thursday but he did not turn up. Following this, Sharma and Sahil Khan, his brother Sam and another accused Hitesh Khushlani were asked to join the probe on Friday.

A total of 31 accused are named in the FIR, some of whom are not in the country. While the ED has been probing the case, the Mumbai police registered an FIR based on an order by a magistrate court. The matter was later transferred to the Mumbai crime branch for further probe.

The matter had been raised in the ongoing winter session of the state legislature on Thursday following which deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said that an SIT was probing the Mahadev app case.
