Sahil Khan, his brother Sam, Amit Sharma and another accused Hitesh Khushlani were asked to join the probe on Friday.ACTOR SAHIL Khan, who did not appear before the Mumbai police in connection with their probe in the Mahadev app betting case, wrote to the police saying he was out of the country and will be able to join the probe after two weeks. The police are however not convinced with the response since no proof has been attached for the same.
Apart from Khan, three others too had been issued summons but did not appear before the police, nor did they give any reason for their absence.
“We are considering our options. The response given by him is not backed by proof. We may issue a Look Out Circular (LOC) against the accused to ensure they don’t flee. We may also issue a second summons in the case if they don’t present themselves,” an officer said.
The Mumbai crime branch had issued summons to accused Amit Sharma last week on Thursday, but he did not turn up. In the FIR, it was alleged that Sharma was involved in a business partnership with fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Mustaqim.
Following this, Sharma, Sahil Khan, his brother Sam and another accused Hitesh Khushlani were asked to join the probe on Friday. They too didn’t turn up for questioning.
A total of 31 accused have been named in the FIR, some of whom are not in the country. While the ED has been probing the case, the Mumbai police registered an FIR based on a magistrate court order. The matter was later transferred to the Mumbai crime branch for further probe.
The matter had been raised in the ongoing winter session of the state legislature last week following which deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said that the SIT is probing the Mahadev app case.
