Legislative Council LoP alleges one accused in Beed sarpanch’s murder close aide of a minister

He mentioned that the government is using artificial intelligence to find the accused, asking Opposition to not name any minister and cast aspersions.

Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council Ambadas Danve on Monday alleged that one of the accused involved in the murder of Santosh Deshmukh—a sarpanch from Massajog village in Beed district—is a close associate of a minister from Beed district.

Danve on Monday raised an adjournment motion regarding the murder of Deshmukh. “It is being alleged by villagers that Walmik Karad is one of the accused in the case. It is also being said he is a close aide of one of the ministers from Beed,” said Danve demanding that all the accused in the case be arrested at the earliest.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the government has already suspended the police sub-inspector on duty while the the police inspector from Kej police station has been sent on compulsory leave. “A special investigation team has been formed to probe the case and every accused, irrespective of his allegiance to anyone, will be arrested,” said Fadnavis.

Deshmukh was abducted and murdered on December 9. It is alleged that despite informing police within an hour of the incident, no action was taken. The incident took a casteist turn after the alleged atrocities committed on Deshmukh before murdering him came to light.

Beed Lok Sabha MP from NCP SP Bajrang Sonwane raised the issue in the Lok Sabha on Monday, demanding immediate arrest of the accused. BJP MLA from Ashti Suresh Dhas too has been raising the arrest of the mastermind behind this incident.
