Lalit Patil’s driver disposed off huge quantity of drugs, suspects police

The investigations by Sakinaka police have revealed that the driver of drug lord Lalit Patil, Sachin Wagh, allegedly disposed of or hid a huge quantity of drugs at the instructions of his boss (Patil), fearing police action.

On Monday, the Sakinaka police produced Patil, Wagh and two other accused Shivaji Shinde, and Rohit Chaudhary in court. They were all remanded to police custody up to October 27.

The Mumbai police arrested Patil, who was behind the multi-crore mephedrone racket busted by the Pimpri-Chinchwad police in 2020, from Channasandra village in Karnataka on October 17, after he escaped from Pune’s Sassoon General Hospital on October 2. The day after Patil’s arrest, his driver, Wagh, was also arrested.

On Monday, when Patil and others were produced before the court while seeking an extension of police custody, the prosecution argued that Wagh had either disposed of or hid a large quantity of drugs under the direction of Patil, and the police wanted to probe deep into it.

Apart from this, the police also suspect that the accused have more factories for manufacturing MD drugs.

The police also wish to confront Lalit Patil and his brother Bhushan Patil and interrogate them jointly, and they will soon seek his custody. Bhushan was arrested separately while he was allegedly trying to flee the country via Nepal.

The police have also come across the name of a suspect by the name of Kambale, who they believe could be the owner of one of the factories manufacturing drugs.
