A level-one fire broke out at a residential building in Kurla West on Wednesday afternoon. No injuries were reported in the incident, with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) attributing the cause to a Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) gas pipe line leakage.

The incident was reported at 1.23 pm at the Mubarak building located behind the LIG colony in Kurla West’s Vinoba Bhave Nagar. According to officials, the blaze was reported at the ground floor of the four storey residential structure, which also comprises shops. The fire was declared level-I at 1.29 pm.

In a bid to douse the flames, the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) pressed its firemen while MGL gas staff, police and civic ward staffers were also pressed to the site. Officials said that fire broke out owing to leakage of an MGL gas pipe line.

The fire was extinguished at 3.09 pm, with no injuries reported.
