Khar Gymkhana marker Manoj Kasare endured a late challenge before rallying to an exciting 3-2 win,in the Bombay Gymkhana Strokes Snooker Invitational Open Tournament on Tuesday.
Kasare faced a formidable opponent in Manjeet Singh Bhomar of North Indian Association,Kings Circle who stretched the best-of-five frames contest into the decider after trailing 1-2 and snatching the crucial fourth frame.
It was an ominous sign for Kasare when he dropped the opening frame,before holding on to a slender lead in the fifth and final frame to take the match away with a 44-57,56-40,59-37,22-53,54-30 win.
In another marathon encounter that went the distance,Ritesh Joshi of Country Club rallied from 1-2 to overcome a gritty Cyrus Aga of Elphinstone Cricket Club 60-44,34-44,28-43,56-35,66-59 in a gruelling contest that lasted two-and-a-half hours.
The other significant first round winners were,Amit Sapru of Park Club,Hitesh Kotwani of CCI,Rahul More of Vasai,young Ishpreet Singh Chadha of Khar Gymkhana and Zareer Shroff of Bombay Gymkhana.
