Veteran journalist dies at 57
Veteran journalist Pradeep Shinde died on Friday afternoon after a prolonged illness. Shinde,57,specialised in crime reporting. 
He was admitted to the Brahmakumaris Hospital in Andheri for a respiratory ailment nearly 10 days ago. Starting his career as a journalist nearly three decades ago,Shinde covered all aspects of crime,including white-collar and cyber crimes.
Shinde worked in various capacities with The Daily,The Free Press Journal,The Indian Express and other publications.
He was also the editor of Gunaah.com,a portal dedicated to crime stories.
Mega block on Central Railway
No trains would run between Kalyan,Khopoli,Masjid,and Wadala stations on Sunday due to mega block undertaken by the Central Railway (CR). According to Shriniwas Mudgerikar,CRs chief spokesperson,girders and floor beams were to be launched for a foot-over-bridge at Ulhasnagar. For this purpose,there would be no railway trafficin the Khopoli-Karjat-Kalyan section. 
Similarly,due to mega block there would be no traffic on the harbour line between Wadala and Masjid. Meanwhile,the railways have diverted eight long distance trains via Diva-Panvel-Karjat route. Commuters wanting to alight at Kalyan can get down at Diva station and then take a local train. It has also cancelled Pune-Mumbai-Pune Pragati Express. The WR too would be closing the south end subway for a month from November 9. The Western Railway (WR) officials said since the work for platform no 6A at Borivali station is ready to start and the work needs closure of the subway.
