IIT Bombay ranked 118th in QS World University ranking, highest ever
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore had achieved that feat in 2016 with a ranking of 147 in UK-based ranking agency, QS - Quacquarelli Symonds.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has achieved its highest rank ever, breaking into the world’s top 120 universities in the latest edition of the QS World University Ranking released late Tuesday night.
With rank 118 in the QS World University ranking, the Institution improved on its 2024 performance by 31 places.
This is a leap from its rank of 149th in last year’s QS World University Ranking when IIT Bombay had climbed 23 positions for this rank and for the first time in eight years an Indian higher education institution had made it to the top 150 list.
Previously the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore had achieved that feat in 2016 with a ranking of 147 in UK-based ranking agency, QS – Quacquarelli Symonds.
With an overall score of 56.3 out of 100, it is for the first time ever since its participation in this ranking that the prestigious technology institute from Mumbai – IIT Bombay – has been ranked within top 125 in QS World University rankings.
The Director of the Institute, Prof. Shireesh Kedare in his remark said, “It is my pleasure that IIT Bombay has risen by 31 places. This is the achievement of the team of faculty, students and staff all together. We aspire to improve ourselves further”.
The Institute has a score of 86.0 in employer reputation, 79.1 in citation per faculty, 58.5 in academic reputation, 64.5 in employment outcome, 52.5 in sustainability, 14.4 in faculty student ratio, 4.3 in international faculty, 52.3 in international research network and 1.3 in international students, all scores out of a maximum of 100 points. Among these nine parameters, Employer Reputation was the strongest at IIT Bombay with a global rank of 63.
