Actor Swara Bhasker, who is currently seen in the reality show ‘Pati Patni Aur Panga-Jodiyon Ka Reality Check’ with husband-politician Fahad Ahmad, is known for her outspoken statements. One of her recent remarks triggered netizens and caused a storm on social media. In an interview with SCREEN on The Suvir Saran Show earlier, she had said that she has a crush on Dimple Yadav, wife of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav. She also mentioned that people are naturally bisexual and heterosexuality is a belief. Now, in a recent interview with us, she clarified her comments and opened up about her acting career.

Calling the controversy “stupid”, Swara said, “I don’t understand that. It was just me being a little facetious and funny. I don’t understand what is the great controversy in having a girl crush. It’s the most normal thing in the world. I am a big believer of admiring and appreciating other women. That is a constructed controversy. There are real issues to focus on.”

She further added, “It’s a theoretical point of of course; I am married, I have a child. There’s no conclusion to it. As far as a girl crush on Dimple ji goes, I think one can have admiration and affection in a way that is humorous. Everyone should remember that it wasn’t the real issue. It shouldn’t be about a frivolous joke I made. Now because Fahad is a politician, everything I saw reflects on him. It becomes a political controversy. It gives me more reason to rethink about whatever I said, should I not have?”

The Veere Di Wedding actor had also mentioned earlier that she lost roles because of her woke opinions. “That has definitely happened. But when that happened, my personal life started flowering in the most beautiful way. It really didn’t matter that much,” she said.

She continued, “I haven’t been working for the last two and a half years. I was pregnant, then I had a baby. I have one film that was shot earlier but we were still dubbing it, will release in some time. I am going to keep things at my own pace, I don’t want to jump into anything very hectic.”

When asked if there was any reason behind giving a nod to Pati Patni Aur Panga after a hiatus, Swara replied, “It’s a nice concept, but the main thing was that they only shoot once a week or maximum twice a week. That is something I can manage when my baby is not even two years old yet. I am a nursing mother. Doing a hectic schedule and leaving her for long hours, like we do for films wasn’t possible.”

The actor’s husband Fahad, who marked his debut with the reality show, wasn’t “comfortable” about it at all. “He refused outright. I had to really convince him, then the channel people and creative team also spoke to him. He was very stressed about it but as he started shooting, he started enjoying it. Nobody knew that there was a closeted reality star inside Fahad. He is very charming and natural in camera. He is a great fit for reality TV, I think he is doing a better job than me, actually,” she shared.

Did she miss facing the camera while on a break? “You feel bad but you are so wrapped up in being in the new experience of motherhood, you tend to not miss it. I missed myself though. I went into an identity crisis after having my baby. I was habitual of having my own ambition, drive, I have been a hustler. Everything was gone. I didn’t want to workout. I was like, ‘Who is this person? What happened to me?'” Swara concluded.
