Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan met members of the Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI) and assured them that housing issues in Mumbai will be resolved at monthly meetings to be convened with them.
Speaking at the meeting with the MCHI delegation on Thursday,Chavan said housing was becoming an increasingly complex issue in Mumbai.
He said issues of housing,along with other concerns such as transport,basic infrastructure,sewage disposal,drinking water,waste management,will be resolved through discussions with MCHI. Monthly meeting between senior government officials and MCHI members had been proposed.
Chavan said developers and builders will have an important role to play in Mumbais development. Various issues related to housing such as making Mumbai slum-free and upgrade of basic infrastructure to make it a truly international city were discussed. Redevelopment of MHADA,cessed buildings,giving additional 0.33 FSI to buildings in Mumbais suburbs,MMRDAs rental housing scheme were also discussed during the meeting.
