High Court denies bail to supari killer of Sikh man

Bombay High Court (HC) recently denied bail to Bahar alias Pappu Shivjaak, accused of murdering a Sikh man whose body was found with beard and hair shaved.

Bombay High Court (HC) recently denied bail to Bahar alias Pappu Shivjaak, accused of murdering a Sikh man whose body was found with beard and hair shaved. He had allegedly taken a Rs 5-lakh supari (contract) for the murder.

Shivjaak argued since seven of nine other accused had been granted bail,he should get relief as well. However, justice A M Thipsay observed,“It appears there is some more material against the applicant than is available against the other accused.”

The prosecution said deceased Rajinder Singh alias Batti of Andhra Pradesh had allegedly complained against Youth Congress members Sardar Maninder Singh,Jaspal Singh,Shailendra Singh and Sardar Darasingh, who were arrested after his death on March 1,2011.

“There was personal enmity between the accused and the deceased and they had filed police complaints against each other,” additional public prosecutor Rajeshree Gadhavi said.

The accused allegedly hired Premjit Singh and Balasaheb Jadhav to eliminate Batti. The contract was allegedly given to Shivjaak, who, with accused Vijay Kamble and Feroz Dhankar, allegedly called Batti from Vazirabad to Mumbai for a land deal.

While driving to Shirdi, they stopped at Sai Dhaba for dinner and mixed sleeping pills in dal-khichadi of Batti. Once he slept, they strangulated him with a nylon rope, the prosecution claimed.
