Ahead of Diwali,people are flocking to cosmetic surgeons in the city to get that extra glow and a new look. Not just the Mumbaiikars,but older men and women from tier two cities and small villages are turning in big numbers to the city for a nip and tuck.

Non surgical methods like Botox and fillers are definitely more sought after during these days. There is also an increase in demand for procedures like body sculpting and breast jobs. There is about 30 percent increase in demand for such procedures, says Dr Mohan Thomas,Medical Director of The Cosmetic Surgery Institute in India and Founder President of the Indian Society of Cosmetic Surgery and the Academy of Anti Ageing Medicine in Mumbai and New York. Botox is used for erasing the wrinkles on the forehead,frown lines and crows feet as well us for non surgical face rejuvenation by way of Botox brow lift and neck lift.

If one thought that cosmetic surgery is only for women,Manoj Manwani,cosmetic and plastic surgeon,CritiCare hospital,clears the myth and said,Men to women ratio for cosmetic surgery is 50:50. A very high percentage of men are going in for rhinoplasty (change the shape of nose) and augmentation apart from routine facelifts. There is a craze for dimple creation even among men after it is widely accepted onscreen.

Increasingly people from tier two cities like Jaipur,Bhopal and even Indore are flying to Mumbai ahead of Diwali to get their facelifts and other jobs. Injectable fillers are also hugely popular for softening deep lines and for lip plumping and filling of under eye hollows.

But all this comes at a price. Non surgical treatments cost anywhere between 20,000 to 40,000 whereas dimple creation,chin augmentation costs about 50,000, said Dr Thomas.

Unlike in past,many are now going in for complete makeover -three to four surgeries at a time. Mix procedure reduces the over all cost. People,for example,opt for chin implant,eye surgery and rhinoplasty in one go, said Dr Manwani.
