Former Shiv Sena MP Anandrao Adsul Tuesday warned the BJP of filing a curative petition in the Supreme Court (SC) against former MP Navneet Rana in the caste certificate case if he is not made Governor within the next 15 days.

In May, Adsul claimed that Union Minister Amit Shah had offered him a Governor’s post for withdrawing his claim on the Amravati seat, which he had represented twice, in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. The BJP had fielded Navneet Rana from the seat.

In April, the Supreme Court had set aside the 2021 Bombay High Court verdict that cancelled her Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate paving her way to contest the elections.

Adsul, who had withdrawn his claim on Amravati Lok Sabha seat, stated that the BJP had promised two Union Cabinet positions and two governorships to the Shiv Sena but had not fulfilled any of these commitments.

He further alleged that both Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis had signed a letter recommending his appointment as governor, which was sent to the BJP’s top leadership, but he was still overlooked.

“Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had assured me that I would be appointed as the governor. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also gave his assurance. But no promise was fulfilled. I can’t wait forever. I will wait for another fifteen days, but after that, I will go to the Supreme Court and file a curative petition regarding Navneet Rana’s caste certificate,” Adsul said.

“Twenty five months have passed since Fadnavis made this promise, and two-and-a-half months since Amit Shah’s promise… Now, I will not wait any longer,” he added.
