The Nationalist Congress Party’s tug of war with the Congress continued on Saturday with another senior Congress leader in the state, former Member of Parliament Shivaji Mane, who had quit the Shiv Sena a few years ago, being welcomed into the NCP.

Mane, the Congress district president from Hingoli in Marathwada, was welcomed into the NCP fold at a function in Mumbai in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and other NCP leaders. Pawar said the party expected Mane’s entry into the party to strengthen it further in Marathwada region.

The NCP has already taken in BJP MP Gopinath Munde’s brother Panditanna Munde in Beed,Marathwada. Mane said he felt suffocated in the Congress and his grievances had not been addressed.
