Former mayor of Sena blasts party MLA on FB, matter reaches Uddhav

Raul, who was Mumbai’s mayor from 2007 to 2009, vented her ire first through a post on social networking site Facebook.

Former mayor Shubha Raul of the Shiv Sena has lashed out at party MLA from Dahisar Vinod Ghosalkar claiming he was running down upcoming leaders in the party.

Raul, who was Mumbai’s mayor from 2007 to 2009, vented her ire first through a post on social networking site Facebook.

“In the 21st century, the fight of Savitiri’s daughter still continues. In this international city, these daughters have got elected in urban local bodies…. In order to prove themselves, they have overcome obstacles, maintained their dignity and managed to get justice for the people. However, in this fight, these Draupadis are facing the humiliation of being disrobed again. In this land of Dhritrashtra, will someone become Krishna and defend Draupadi’s honour?” Raul said in a post.

When contacted, She said her ire was against Vinod Ghosalkar who had been humiliating local party workers.

“I was forced to write the post after I witnessed the humiliation of my fellow corporator Manisha Chaudhary at the hands of Ghosalkar’s son Abhishek Ghosalkar in front of Mayor Sunil Prabhu and House leader Yashodhar Phanse,” Raul said.

She said that she had accompanied Chaudhary, a BJP corporator from Dahisar, to meet the mayor. Raul claimed Chaudhary had a running feud with supporters of Ghosalkar and was being threatened by his men. She said the father-son duo had been running down party officials.
“Vinod Ghosalkar publicly scolds corporators and claims he will ensure these corporators are not elected again. If this is his behaviour with members of his own party, how will the Shiv Sena grow?” Raul said.

Raul’s outburst seems to have reached Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, who was said to be not keen on meeting Raul and her supporters earlier.

“We have received an assurance from our party chief that we will get an audience in the next two days and all issues will be sorted out,” Raul said.
