(Photo: Dev_Fadnavis/X)Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday told the administration to focus on “ease of living” and said that good governance in a state is proven when citizens get the benefits of services without delay.
Speaking at the launch of District Good Governance Index, 2024 report, Fadnavis said, “The development of a state is based on ease of living. Therefore, the government has always worked on improving it. Good governance of a state is realised when citizens get the benefits of government services without delay. And this good governance is important to take the state’s economy to one trillion mark.”
Adding that governance should be transparent, efficient and people-centric, the CM said, “Ultimately for a government, how many projects we carry is not important but how we govern.”
The index is being prepared studying after analysing 10 development sectors, 161 indicators and 300+ data points. “DGGI is not only about ranking but for improvement. It is seen that the difference between the toppers and those at the bottom is closing down, which is a good sign,” he said.
As per the DGGI, Amaravati, Washim, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Latur and Parbhani are top five dsitricts in agriculture and related sectors. Mumbai City, Raigad, Pune, Palghar, Thane topped in commerce and industry; Nashik, Gondiya, Pune, Yavatmal, Satara in human resource development; Sindhudurg, Mumbai suburbs, Palghar, Beed, Ratnagiri in public health; Latur, Nasik, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Hingoli in infrastructure development, while Gondiya, Amaravati, Nasik, Dhule and Nagpur ranked highest in social development.
Mumbai suburbs, Mumbai city, Raigad, Jalgaon and Bhandara topped in financial discipline; Mumbai suburbs, Mumbai city, Nagpur, Gadchiroli and Raigad in judiciary and security; Sangli, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Solapur, Mumbai city and Mumbai suburbs in environment; and Nasik, Washim, Yavatmal, Buldhana and Amaravati topped in people-centric administration.
