A fire broke out in a multi-storey residential building in Mumbai’s Andheri on Saturday morning, officials said, adding that 33 people in the complex were rescued to safety. No injuries have been reported in the incident, said Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials. According to officials with the Mumbai’s Fire Brigade (MFB), a level-one fire was reported at 8.51 am at a six-storey building at Saki CHS in Andheri East’s Sakinaka. The fire was completely doused at 10.46 am. While the cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be ascertained, according to the preliminary reports from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the blaze remained confined to the electric wiring, installation and panel boards of the electric meter cabin on the ground and the first floors of the building. The firefighters carried out the rescue operations using an angus ladder and staircase. “Seven people were rescued from the first floor; five women, 2 men, 2 girls and two newborns were rescued from the second floor; and two women, 6 men and 2 boys from the third as well as the fourth floors,” said an officer.
