(Express Photo)THE AZAD Maidan police have registered a case against six, including Bala Nandgaonkar, state vice president of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), who organised ‘Satyacha Morcha’ (March for Truth) on Saturday in South Mumbai.
They have been booked for allegedly holding an unlawful assembly and defying prohibitory orders.
According to the police, more than 10,000 people gathered at Mahapalika Marg, and the protest was led by prominent leaders, including NCP (SP) Supremo Sharad Pawar along with several Congress leaders, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, and MNS president Raj Thackeray.

The protest at Mahapalika Marg was organised by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). Apart from Nandgaonkar, the police also booked Baban Mhadik, a Colaba division chief of the Shivsena (UBT); Jaywant Naik; Baban Gharat from Shivsena (UBT); and Arvind Gavade and Baban Mhadik of MNS.
According to the police, the organisers had not obtained permission to hold the protest. The people from the political party were informed that the protest and rallies are not permitted under the prohibitory order in South Mumbai and despite that, they organised the protest, said a senior police officer of the Azad Maidan police station.
The ‘Satyacha Morcha’ was organised to protest against alleged irregularities in the voter list, misuse of voter data, and the Election Commission’s careless approach.
Meanwhile, as another protest was conducted by the ruling party BJP supporters in the Girgaon area, the DB Marg police booked more than 100 unknown people for allegedly holding an unlawful assembly.
