Emergency brazenly undermined Dr B R Ambedkar’s Indian Constitution: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Fadnavis says the film Emergency has very well unfolded the developments to present the history before the people on screen.

The film Emergency gives an insight into the Emergency which altered the political discourse across the country, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Thursday. The movie has very well captured the detailed nuances which come across on the screen depicting the historical part, he said. Fadnavis made these observations after watching the special screening of the film at BKC in Mumbai on Thursday.

A special screening of the film was organised at PVR in BKC, where the film’s lead actor Kangana Ranaut, Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, MLAs Pravin Darekar, Prasad Lad, the entire film crew were present apart from the audience.

While stating Emergency was a blot on democracy, Fadnavis said, “The Constitution of India, drafted by Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, was brazenly violated and undermined by the Congress when it imposed Emergency in the country.”

He emphasised the importance of citizens being aware of this event, as during the Emergency the rights of citizens were stripped away. He stressed the necessity for citizens to understand the democratic crisis that unfolded during this period.

He also praised actor Kangana Ranaut for her excellent portrayal of the late Indira Gandhi in the film.
