Drug factory busted in Sangli dist; 122 kg mephedrone seized, 6 held

The police said the six accused were involved in manufacturing and supplying mephedrone to Mumbai city. Apart from that, the police also seized laboratory equipment, dryers, heaters, and various chemicals used in the manufacturing process of the drug.

Police said the accused has been running the factory for seven months. Earlier, the police had arrested four people and seized 4 kg MD from them in February. The case was registered under NDPS Act and unit 7 started probing the case. During interrogation, the police got several leads that few people have been manufacturing MD in Sangli.

Once the factory was identified, a police team comprising more than 10 officials raided it. They seized 122 kilograms MD and several raw materials and chemicals which used to make MD from the factory.

Six people were taken into custody and while searching at their place police also seized 15 lakh cash and gold ornaments and skoda car, said a police officer.
