Dr Christopher de Souza conferred Honorary Doctor of Literature by MUHS
An ENT specialist, Dr de Souza is attached to several leading hospitals in Mumbai and heads a cochlear implant programme dedicated to restoring hearing in children who are born deaf and adults who have gone deaf.

Renowned ENT surgeon, Dr Christopher de Souza was conferred with the Honorary Doctor of Literature ‘Honoris Causa’ by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) at the University in Nashik on Friday.
The doctorate was conferred at the convocation in the presence of Hasan Mushrif, Pro-Chancellor and Minister of Medical Education. Also present were Lt Gen (retd) Dr Madhuri Kanitkar, Vice Chancellor of MUHS, and Dr Milind Nikumbh, Pro VC, MUHS, among others.

He has been awarded with the Orbit Silver Medal from the Netherlands for his work on surgery of the nose and paranasal sinuses in 1994. He is also a recipient of the Hamilton Bailey Scholarship from the UK in 1994.
Dr de Souza has published seven definitive textbooks in the USA under his name which are recorded in the US Library of Congress and they are used by ENT surgeons all over the world. He has also published and edited 55 international ENT textbooks and has published 45 papers. He has been on the faculty of the State University of New York, Brooklyn, USA and the Louisiana State University of Health Sciences for over 27 years.
