Crackdown on unruly fliers

Unruly passengers could be fined up to Rs 5 lakh or sentenced to three years in jail,under a recent DGCA proposal. Airlines have been asked to report unruly behaviour within 12 hours. “We are waiting for the Law Ministry to get back to us on this proposal. It can happen any time soon” said Zaidi. This draft on unruly passengers also aims to resolve the issue of jurisdiction,suggesting that it be applicable to all airlines entering Indian airspace.
