An electrician allegedly killed his wife and children in Virar on Tuesday night and fled,as he could not support them due to slowdown,the police said. The Virar police are on the lookout for the accused.
According to the police,Ganesh Tambe (43),an electrician with a power company in Santacruz,had left a letter at the spot,admitting to the have committed the murders and claiming to join his family soon.
The incident came to notice when Tambes neighbour Bharat Kanade saw the accused leaving home after latching the door from outside on Wednesday morning. Kanade opened the door and found Tambes wife Siddhis body under a bedsheet with a deep gash on her throat. The bodies of the couples children,Saili (10) and Shubham (5) were beside her, said police inspector Anil Sandbhor from Virar police station.
The police recovered the knife that Tambe used for the murders and a letter written by him from the spot,he said. He has written that he was not being able to support his family due to recession and combined with his knee problem,their cost of living was exceeding his income. He claimed to have taken this step out of helplessness and also mentioned he was leaving home to kill himself and join them, said Sandbhor.
We have recorded the statements of Tambes relatives who alleged that he was an alcoholic and would drink every night and later beat up his wife and kids. Though Siddhi never complained to the relatives,they knew of his nature and the familys ordeal, he added.
The police are yet to trace Tambe and have alerted all railway stations and beaches.
