The incident came to notice when Tambe’s neighbour Bharat Kanade saw the accused leaving home after latching the door from outside on Wednesday morning. “Kanade opened the door and found Tambe’s wife Siddhi’s body under a bedsheet with a deep gash on her throat. The police recovered the knife that Tambe used for the murders and a letter written by him from the spot,he said. “He has written that he was not being able to support his family due to recession and combined with his knee problem, their cost of living was exceeding his income. He claimed to have taken this step out of helplessness and also mentioned he was leaving home to kill himself and join them,” said Sandbhor.

“We have recorded the statements of Tambe’s relatives who alleged that he was an alcoholic and would drink every night and later beat up his wife and kids. Though Siddhi never complained to the relatives, they knew of his nature and the family’s ordeal,” he added.

The police are yet to trace Tambe and have alerted all railway stations and beaches.
