Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday declared he got the Centre’s clearance for the ambitious coastal road project within a month which was relegated to back burner since 2011. Fadnavis asserted that “Mumbai Makeover” was integral for ” India’s Makeover”.

Fadnavis also announced that the long pending project like Ambedkar Memorial on Indu Mills has got the sanction from the Union Ministry of Textile. Chatrapati Shivaji statue at the Arabian sea has been cleared by the Union Ministry of Environment, he added. The bhoomipujan of the Shivaji Statue project would be conducted on February 19, he announced.

Turning the tables against former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, he said, “It was Chavan’s dream project. But it remained on paper since 2011, as state government did not pursue the same with Centre to make them issue a notification. As a result it was never considered.”

“On matters related to Indu Mills there were very preliminary queries which remained unanswered by the previous government thus delaying the entire process.” Fadnavis said, “It took us less than one month to get the clearances for these projects which would be fast tracked.” At Indu Mills, there is no ambiguity that the land would be used for magnificent memorial of B R Ambedkar. I wonder why Chavan government failed to reply to the basic queries from the Centre, he added.

The chief minister who invited flak from Chhagan Bhujbal for suggesting PM committee for Mumbai projects, said, ” When we talk of ease in governance, international investors and world bank paramaters have always considered the index of Mumbai and Delhi. The manner in which these cities are governed, progress of projects, time factor are all considered to evaluate the governance.” It is not just a case of Mumbai in isolation. Its ramifications are for entire Maharashtra and India.

Fadnavis said, “My object of PM committee is to fast track the Mumbai development. What mistake have I committed?” Mumbai was, is and will remain the integral part of Maharashtra, he asserted.
