The Kanjurmarg police are investigating the mysterious death of a 23-year-old hawker whose decomposed body was found on Saturday morning in a drain along the Eastern Express Highway in Kanjurmarg east. He had gone missing on October 24.

According to the Kanjurmarg police,the deceased Sanjay Solanki,a resident of a slum near Hingwala market area of Ghatkopar East had left his house with his sister on October 24 to visit his uncles residence in Vikhroli. On their way back ,around 7.30pm,his sister decided to leave for Mumbra,while Sanjay took the Dadar-bound local train for his residence in Ghatkopar. However,when Sanjay did not return home,the family lodged a complaint with the Pant Nagar police station. Cops suspect Solanki was murdered and his body was dumped in the drain.

Cops forms teams to trace women who fled welfare home

The Govandi police have prepared special teams to trace the 23 women who ran away from a government-run welfare home in Mankhurd on Saturday. According to the police,around 35 women had planned to escape the Mahila Sudhar Gruha but only 23 could flee,while the rest were nabbed. Other women learnt about their plan and created chaos. alerting the guards, cops said.

Drowning fishermen rescued off Khar Danda

Four fishermen were rescued on Sunday morning when their fishing boat sunk in the Arabian Sea,16 km off Khar Danda. Boat owner Datta Thalkar (54) and his three helpers Balu Nishad (38),Rajan Nishad (31) and Ram Sanadar (24) were sleeping when water began to seep in. Eight boats and 80 fishermen were used to retrieve the boat. The operation took five hours.
