A head constable posted with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been missing from the agency’s barracks in Santacruz East since June 26.
According to police, he has left behind his cellphone, making it difficult to trace him. His superiors say there was nothing that may have forced him to disappear.
CISF head constable Damodar, posted at the Mumbai International Airport Limited, was reported missing on June 26 after he failed to report to duty that day, the police said. The 52-year-old was last seen in the CISF’s barracks in Kalina on June 25 at the daily evening roll-call parade. Damodar did not report to work at 6 am on June 26, prompting his colleagues to start a search. “Initially, we kept calling him on his cellphone. It kept ringing but there was no answer. In the room that he shared with two other colleagues, we found that Damodar had left his cellphone, ATM card and cash. We registered a missing person’s complaint at Vakola police station,” said CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh. “We have spoken to Damodar’s colleagues and seniors. We will also speak to his family to understand if anything was troubling him. If he had taken his cellphone, it would have been easier to track him,” said Mahadeo Wavale, senior inspector, Vakola police station.
Damodar’s wife, three sons and siblings live in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.
