The Chandiwal Commission that probed the allegations of former Mumbai police commissioner Parambir Singh submitted its report during the time of Maha Vikas Aghadi government and so where is the question of Mahayuti holding its findings back, asked Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday. Earlier on Saturday, former home minister Anil Deshmukh had dared Fadnavis to make Chandiwal Commission report public. Deshmukh had said, “Chandiwal Commission report has given me clean chit as all charges against me were found unsubstantiated." The Chandiwal Commission had conducted an inquiry for eleven months to ascertain the allegations against NCP (SP) leader and former home minister Anil Deshmukh following Mumbai police commissioner Parambir Singh’s allegations that Deshmukh had asked police department to collect Rs 100 crore per month from bars and restaurants in city. Responding to media persons’ questions in Nagpur, Fadnavis, who holds the home portfolio, said, "Chandiwal Commission report was submitted to government during MVA tenure. Why did they not make it public then? Where is the question of our government involved in this matter? “Anil Deshmukh was home minister in MVA government. It was MVA government which had appointed Parambir Singh as police commissioner. Even police inspector Sachin Waze was reinstated during MVA tenure,” Fadnavis said. The Central government has no role in the Anil Deshmukh case, he added. The charges of bribery and corruption were levelled by Singh against Deshmukh. Based on these charges, the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court ordered probe. It was following court developments that the matter was taken up by CBI for investigation, he said.
